First,
please tell a bit about yourself and about your band. Introduce yourself.
My name
is Mathias Josefson. I am living in Stockholm, Sweden, where I am currentlky
studying computer science at the Royal Institute of Technology.
Please
tell me about your band. When was it formed, why, your releases, etc.
Moljebka
Pvlse is my solo project. The first and so far only release is the EoC,
and I started the project for that release. The name is taken from the
Russian village Moljebka where there have been numerous UFO sightings.
I have performed 4 times live with Moljebka Pvlse. On all these times
I have been showing a special made movie called "Never Happy Chaplin".
The live performances are builtup on improvisation. I use both tape loops,
effects and acustic instruments (mainly guitar). I have another band
with a friend called Lykaion Eclipse. We then make more ambient music.
We have performed live a couple of times. We have also been played on
radio in Canada and the US a couple of times.
Why did
you decided to play power electronics? What has influenced this decision?
I am not
quite sure if the music I make is power electronics. One big ingrediense
of my music is the experiment with different sounds. Sometime I use harsh
sounds and distorted sounds, maybe on the border of noise and touching
on that area. But I do not think that my music is p.e.
What
do you think about your track on ESTHETICS OF CRUELTY? Is it good example
of your music?
Well I am
not sure about this. When I have been performing live as Moljebka I have
been working along the same lines as that track. I like the way it is
built up, mainly from just using delays with 100% feedback. But I have
not made that many other soungs that sound similar to that song.
The tracks
youve enjoyed most on EOC?
I liked
the Janitor, Ovum, Treriksroset and Istitut (monza) tracks.
Your
music isnt very aggressive and violent. Do you think that its still
called power electronics or you have better description for your music?
No, I do
not think its P.E. I would like to call it experimental electronic music.
What
do you think about noise/ power electronics scene in Sweden? Do you think
that attencion from CMI to this genre will help it somehow?
Here in
Stockholm it is a very interesting scene, much thanks to the asociation
called the Nursery. And I think that the CMI label do a great job for
the experimental genre.
Do you
plan any fulllenght releases in future?
I have just
finished a cd with Moljebka that I hope to release. It is more ambient
that the EoC track. I am also just finishing a tape release with Moljebka
that is more towards the EoC stuff.
What
power electronics mean to you? Is it hooby or lifestyle?
Yes, I put
much of my time into my music so I would say it is my style of life.
