Please tell
me about people who involved in OMS Could you tell me about your jobs
as well ? Do you have other musical projects/bands ?
First, we were 3 : Catherine
MARIE, Franck LOPEZ and Patrick L. ROBIN. Then, we were 4 : we tried
J-Marc + Karim + Xavier MARTIN who left us in 1986 as a guitar player
(electrified).
So we decided to have a real drummer again : Jean-Pierre CLAVIER who
was a very good player at this time of the last century and millenium
(but just for stage appearances) with two dancers : a male David and
a female : Helena VILLOVITCH who's a writer wellknown in Europa nowadays.
In the end while Jean-Marc BOUGAIN : digital finger electronic drummer
joined O.M.S , we found back an ancient mate of Franck : Eric MILHIET
who stayed with us until now in spite of the J-M B. 's quitting.

What we do (as jobs) concern strickly confidentially the ones we are
out of artistic actions and performances and groove or recording sessions.

We have all other musical projects as Patrick with the GMEB, Carine and
Franck who play in Collection d'Arnell Andrea and some of us play in
a side project called " O Quam Tristis "
How did you all meet
each other and decided to form a band ? OMS is just a band or you are
close outside the band as well/similar intersts, views, spirituality
?
We never really decided
to meet each other but we strickly decided to form a band in the 80's
The interest of the construction and building of the band stays in the
fact that we have totally different influences. Similitary makes Diktat
!
Differences make people richer and creation very original and full of
mistery (we all keep our mysteries even we share good moments while playing
music ! Together !)
If we 'd stick to one kind or one type of spirituality, it would be the
same as if we were politically involved. We've tried everything , the
totality of things and what is curious is our band New curiosity for
Life and first of all for the Human Behaviour (political, spiritual,
socialand so on) of our mammal friends and inhabitants of this planet
: Gaia, Blue as the " blues " but nice as a rainbow
Some views but not ONE VIEW !
Carine (Collection d'Arnell
Andrea) takes part in your last CD and liveshows. Could you tell about
her and her band , I have their tracks of Knights of Abyss Compilationthat's
all.
In fact Carine first played
with OMS when we had to go to Brazil to make concerts in Sao Paulo. We
were needing a keyboardist/vocalist to play and sing some musical or
vocal parts recorded on cds that we were not able to play live because
we were not enough (only four) . As I was playing with her in Collection
d'Arnell Andrea, she accepted without any problem. After these concerts,
when we recorded our latest album called " Eternelle Tourmente ",
we found interesting to invite her to sing on the album.
Collection d'Arnell Andrea
was founded in 1989 and has recorded since then five albums + one compilation
on the french label Last Call : Un Automne a Loroy, Au Val des Roses,
Les Marronniers, Villers-aux Vents, Cirses des Champs, Coll'Age (compilation).
Do you remember the very
first song of OMS ? What do you think about your music back then ?
The very first song is also
available on an ancient magnetic tape ! It was sounding like New Wave
bands of 82-83-84 : the title was : The Hedgehog rolling under a car's
tyre and wheels on a black macadam roadDa, da, da. Music was simple,
but I was so young that the lyrics were very (too much) youthful !
We never look back but we did it for your magazine ; effectively you
would'nt have any interest in listening this piece. Sorry !
Please tell me about
your previous album HISTOIRES DE FRANCE. Is there any concept behind
the album like on Eternelle Tourmente How does it soundlike ?
It's a question based on
2 parallels !
Histoires de France is a tongue twister made of stories (like funny stories)
and France ! as teachers, french ones, for example, try to make young
boys and girls learn french History !
a) History from France )
b) Stories of french people ) plurial # singular !
You couldn't consider this album as a concept except if you still believe
in your own childhood and in your former teachers.
Eternelle tourmente : by the way is also a " play on word "
based on 2 important things : on one a sculpture in one of our two botanical
garden in Bourges (sadness after sexual relation !), on the other hand,
an eternal need to believe that you'll live back forever with the body
and mind you'll get at the date of your death ! Silly thing and boring
event ! The problem is that adults (only ?) look back words and are jealous
of young boys and girls, more precisely if those children have seen the
Virgin and not the preachers who try as well as teachers, to make people
believe in Christian Religion.
How do you see progresion
of OMS over all those years , Do you think that today you are closer
to the ultimate OMS album or all your albums are parts of some whole
thing and they don't differ much ?
They can't really differ
much, one from the other because the trio's still there happily !
But mixings and years have made them different anyway.
We don't know what's the ultimate album what we can tell you is that
they're parts of big Whole thing that links them : - until when ? we
don't know
- why ? we don't know
- what for ? we still and resolutely do not know ! Sorry !
Is it so important to find an explanation, an answer to something which
is not a Problem ? At the basis, it's for FUN !
In a party, you dance : for a burial party, in some other countries,
you dance and have fun ! we use to be sad for life, not for death !
What is the ultimate
goal for OMS as a band ?
To go on like this and not
to take benefits of what we brings to child's minds to loser's minds.
Our goal is to express ourself trough the tragedy of Life, to mix certain
people with other. When we started, we didn't know exactly for who we
played ! It's the same today ! a goal means or undermeans the possibility
to be saved or something of our eternal domination on animals of our
potential domination on some human beings ! But that's all and that's
pity ! What a proudness ! What a short feeling of security, don't you
think so ?
A goal is just a ball in a net, a balloon in a cage, a part of a body
in another part of an other body.
Domination is just a goal we don't want to dominate anyone we are the
goal, in the end and in the very end, the goal of what we have produced
!
Your music is more or
less inspired by Christian religion ? Do you agree ? Do you believe in
God ? What do you think about religion in general ?
Yes, we do, we are very
inspired.
No, we don't believe in ONE GOD (who is not alone in fact !)
Religion is an evil, a kind of suffer that God (in fact) tried to live
and be under ! only to make freedom rise ! There's a former Disaster
and not an original creation !
We do believe in Regeneration whether Redemption but we are not feeling
guilty just because we didn't ask someone or some Holly god to give us
life ! His life !
Religious things are human things. As long as there will be others (persons
like us ! ) around us or I, I will not consider me as God, so my religion
will not be the final best solution. We know, we have to wait ! until
when ? ? ?
So where are religions ? Nice in their aesthetic expressions but only
and strickly ugly in human brains ! Gosh !
Christian world celebrates
2000years of it's religion.What do you think about contemporary Christianity?
To me it's losing it's role as a spiritual leader and becomes a part
of entertainment industry, spiritual Hollywood, ha-ha.
We absolutely agree with
you and that's the fault of orthodoxian, catholic and protestant forms
of christianityin one way ! ! !
But it's a new aspect of the lost highways of Religions, they all cross
but noone will stop anymore except in an holy or an Holly Wood ? Ha ha
ha
Your music is something
that belongs to you or it comes from outside and you are just a medium
who writes it down ? Can you write your music in " normal "
state or you need special mood/inspiration/god's gift
Special Mood )
Inspiration ) in a normal state that is what we feel !
God's Gift ------- we could'nt say ? !
We are on E.S.P's.
We together feel something special and that makes us play in a same and
shared tune (even if lyrics are ready, they have to change under the
law of the Groove !) We are mediums somewhere !

b) to write it " up " (and not down)
c) to live it in backroom, or lounge or on stage, or on records, or on
radio waves!
OMS exists for 16 years,
right ? At the same time you don't have much success. I know dozens of
bands who write totally crappy music and sell more albums than you do.
So, what helps you not to give up ? What gives you strengh to fight on
for all those years ?
You must know that success
is just a conjonction of circumstances (economical, commercial, fashion
tendancies).
We often like to listen to what you call crappy music far from the "
Team Spirit ". Oh what a shame, such a ! what ?
They sell more albums than we do ? but how many less albums than others
do, don't they sell ?
It's a relative aspect of (material) life ; we do and play music and
songs ; we don't sell umbrellas when it rains out ; we don't sell sun
cream when it shines on !
We've got an aim, not a goal so we lose less strength than if we were
in a football or any other kind of sport's team.
We are a team, but we are together in this team to fight on for all those
17 years ! But forget it, it was in the 20 th Century and in the 2nd
Millenium ! So !
I guess I should ask
you some general questions. You come from France. It's used to be cultural
leader of Europe. Even in Russia, french was an official language for
educated elite of 18/19th centuries. It was in the Past. Today cultural
and geographical boundaries are disappearingIt looks we all eat the
same food, drink the same coca-cola, read the same commercial shit and
watch the same dumb movies from HollywoodDo you think that authentic
French spirituality still exists/will survive or it's slowly washing
out by standard mass culture ?
May be you'll find us a
little angry or consider us as a disapointed band but it's a pity to
live as a french band in a country called France (we call it Hexagone)
Paris'alem) is not the main city, it's just the Metropole. France is
a word, disappearing word as well as many other and numerous words, (french
words) in our dictionnary, to the benefit of anglicism ; those brand
new words come from Nothern America and England who don't love or like
us a lot anyway because we don't sing in english or in american.
We feel " clean " because we are more and more washed out by
standard mass culture, Mondialism and Federalism and OecumenismOK. We've
chosen Europa, that's what we'll get but French spirituality, classical
and modern ones, ancient and actual ones, are still alive don't worry
, we are the protectors, the defenders of something we don't really control
by ourselves.
It's a pity to see Poland, for example poor Poland become a " Carrefour
" or " Tesco " supermaket land, Kentucky fried chicken
and Mac Donald's territory : as well for Czeskia as for Slovakia and
you ! So what can we do against commercial colonialism ?
A couple of weeks ago
I read an article from English newspaper and it tells that London in
2010 will be mostly populated by color peaople. I know that France has
the same problems with immigration. I don't mind if one has different
color of skin but those people bring their own traditions and culture.
They destroy our culture. Sometimes I can watch french MCM music channel
and I don't see there any real french music, but I see some french rap
bands who look really funny. You know, I live in Belarus and my country
was occupied by Russians centuries ago. Now you can hardly find a person
who knows Belarussian language. We lost our culture and even more, people
are ashamed by their old traditional culture. Don't you think that the
same may happen to your country as well ?
It's happening now and it
has happened for centuries. We have tried to keep our roots, not exactly
french roots but Head of europa's mentality you know that we've been
invaded by many populations or civilisations, we have tried to stay as
" Asterix Le Gaulois " irreductible ! We are the result of
so many human melting pots that this is not a problem for us. The main
thing is to always fight to make the tolerance's reign to come true.
We have to care about the fact that the difference of Culture stays a
richness and not a weapon or any kind between people forced to live together.
The Harmony is perhaps possible, but I don't trust too much in Human
Race good intentions.
Now we can read in the Past our Past, our history, that we are the product
of slow, evolutive but not forcely progressive influences. Those facts
made us as we were 50 years ago.
But now all is going too fast, commercial and intensive war is going
its way. The more we get, the more we want, faster and easier, cheaper
and cheaper, junk culture, mixed and cosmopolitan until disgusting reactions,
vomiting itself and exporting its madness, sadness
It's happened to our country so take care or it will happen to yours
too !
PS : Would it possible to come and visit Belarus before this name doesn't
represent anything at all ? Thank you : call us back for a stay and concert
( ! ! ! !)
You spent some time in
Brazil. What is the most noticeable difference among French and Brazilian
people ? What is your biggest surprize and most vivid experience from
this country ?
This is just a difference
of sex ! Brazilian appear to be very sensitive and feminine (male and
female united). This is a warm welcome and very high consideration of
its nationality (they're numerous, country's big and their religion's
are based up on many different spiritualities : Syncretism helps anyone
to practise his own kind of Relation with the High Spirit above and among
us.
Vivid experience : 2 X 2
hours concerts in Sao Paulo in front of thousands of persons in an incredible
warm and weat heat !
